"In the short time that Kanahau has been open, they have been incredibly productive in gathering rare information on the island's species"

Dr. Stesha Pasachnik

I first visited Utila in 2003 at the beginning of my PhD and I have continued my work there ever since. I am now a postdoc at the Institute for Conservation Research. For the last 12 years I have been studying iguanas, and much of this work concerns Honduran species. Ctenosaura bakeri, in particular, has been a large focus for me as this species is particularly threatened, and in need of immediate conservation research and action. Steve, Andrea, and I have been working together to this front for many years now and I am very excited that they now have their own facility to work from. In the short time that they have been open, they have been incredibly productive in gathering rare information on the island's species. I cannot wait to visit the facility and I always look forward to collaborating with Steve and Andrea.
